 GREAT PRODUCT FOR ALL BICYCLE RIDERS August 23, 2010

I was interested in locating a digital speedometer and odometer for my bike. I did a lot of searching and read many reviews. This speedometer was my final choice. It is easy to install and set-up. The feature that I like most is the total distance in miles that I ride on each trip. I have a 26" Colombia bike. Installing the sensor was quick and easy. With a few minor adjustments and riding a known distance course I was satisfied that the set-up was accurate to <.01 miles.

The computer snaps into the handlebar mount bracket by twisting it into place. The problem is that it doesn't snap very firmly in place. I've already had it fall off and hit the ground once simply by lightly brushing my hand against it. Fortunately I was stopped when it fell off. I'm looking into thinking of a way to make it snap more tightly in place such as using tape etc.
Other than that, it's a great unit. The display is crisp and clear from all angles with an adjustable contrast setting in the menu. The manual leaves a lot to be desired. The font size is big enough to read comfortably while riding.

Received the bicycle odometer quickly and in good condition. Installation was fairly easy and I am back to keeping track of the miles and time spent on the bike. The programing was a bit quirky and resetting some of the functions takes more time than necessary, but it works.

This thing is poorly constructed and works when it wants to. It worked fine for the first couple weeks and then quit. I replaced the batteries but nothing worked on it except the clock and the stopwatch. I ordered another and it worked fine for about a month and then everything stopped working.I read review after review with people complaining of the same issues. I will NEVER buy a SIGMA product again.
The Speedometer is Nice, The Manual Needs to be Re-written July 18, 2010

It has taken many hours over many days of tinkering with this speedometer to get it installed and working on my bike. It is finally working and it does everything the description claims.
The main problem was the alignment between the sensor and the magnet on the spokes. There were two issues stopping the device from working.
Issue #1
The distance between the sensor and the magnet. The manual claims that 5mm or less is good. That was not the case for me. I almost sent the device back thinking it was defective. I am one of those people who love a mystery so I decided to tinker with it a little more. I noticed that I could get the speedometer to recognize a signal if I moved the magnet over it slightly brushing the sensor. This told me that things seemed to be working and it was just a matter of getting the distance closer. You need to get the magnet as close to the sensor as possible. The thickness of a sheet of paper is a much better guide than 5 mm.
Issue #2
The sensor and the magnet should be parallel. Spokes are not generally parallel to the fork tubes. I had to make a small rubber wedge to put under the sensor to bring it parallel to the spokes. I also managed to brake the rubber o-ring after many test fittings. A hair braid band made a good substitute for now.
After all this tinkering it works great and I am very happy with the results. I have also ordered the stronger magnet just in case I need it but, it looks like I may be okay without it.
